CODE AND AUDIT CASE STUDY - CHANEL

The Objective

Chanel had a couple of mobile apps, developed and managed by external parties. The strong push for innovation and desire to remain at the forefront of digitalization, came with many more mobile app initiatives that needed to be housed in a robust ecosystem. Chanel turned to A/W to evaluate its code, the overall IT landscape and propose the best way to set up a fully functional and self-managed mobile app ecosystem.

The Results

A/W evaluated the code and architecture of Chanel’s mobile apps and shared its findings in relation to future developments and requirements. We looked at the developments on app level as well as integrations with other company platforms and systems. Chanel’s relentless drive for highly innovative solutions, lead to many system upgrades and new initiatives that were all taken into consideration.

In addition to the more technical aspects of this report, a vision for a fully functional and self-managed regional team was shared. A phased approach towards full agility and both internal as external stakeholder management and collaboration was created. The benefits to all stakeholders involved was clear and brought together in a proposed way forward that ended up being implemented.

Ecosystem set-up CASE STUDY - ELLIPZ

The Objective

Ellipz is a deep tech company that developed and manufactured LiFi related products. Understanding the limits a hardware-only company has, A/W was hired to help Ellipz transform from a hardware focused company to a software and data driven business.

The Result

A/W analysed the tech stack, development capabilities and organisation, in order to match those to the strategic direction and growth ambitions. Upon recommendation of Appian Way, Ellipz built a lean and agile in-house team, focused on PoC, events and apps for all relevant customer touchpoints.

Services rendered: 

  • A detailed roadmap and backlog for all 'customer touchpoints' services created

  • Set up a hybrid development team (in-house and external capabilities)

  • Relevant tools, systems and processes were put in place

  • Instilled an Agile way of working

  • Team doubled in size and organised in scrum manner

  • Once the team was structured and organised, A/W helped select and manage external vendor for the set-up of a fully IoT-ready ‘server less’ cloud environment

Business value CREATION case study - klm

The Objective

KLM asked to take a look at the functionalities of its app and investigate how to add value for its users beyond electronic boarding passes and real-time departure updates.

The results

A/W looked at the current app and user data, suggesting wider feature integrations to add significant value for travellers, which we found to be in the preparation stages of a trip:

  • Links to visa requirements and handling sites

  • Documentation and vaccination services

  • Airport travel time warnings and calculations (incl traffic updates)

  • Automatic taxi/UBER order (with correct terminal selected)

  • Estimated waiting time at the airport (flight load)

  • AR navigation of airport

To dramatically decrease possible implementation time and get a very tangible feeling with the results, a hackathon was organised.
